Welcome to the ultimate guide to California Family Fitness. We've rounded up all our expertise on this page—giving you everything you needed to know about the popular gym chain.

Amenities offered at California Family Fitness

California Family Fitness clubs are large, inviting, and absolutely family friendly. As such, they've built their 18 gyms to focus on amenities that people of all ages can enjoy. With an average (huge!) gym size of 58,000 square feet, here's what you can expect:

  • 83% (15 locations) with a sauna
  • 78% (14 locations) with a pool (several have 2+ pools)
  • 78% (14 locations) where you can play basketball
  • 72% (13 locations) that offer up childcare services

Collectively, these 4 amenities are those you typically may not see at cheaper, more budget gym chains.

While comprehensive, Cal Fit doesn't offer everything—none of their clubs have:

  • Operating hours open 24-hours-a-day
  • A Cardio Cinema
  • A Women's workout area

But—to be clear—we're nitpicking a bit, since it's rare to find (at least the last two bullet points).  Cal Fit is a very well rounded gym chain that those in California should be lucky to have.

Of course, all your standard gym offerings are there:

  • Cardio machines (treadmills, stair-masters, ellipticals)
  • Strength machines of various sorts
  • Free weights with benches

What we love about California Family Fitness

Amazing amenity set that ensures fun and fitness for the whole family. Seriously: they have an activity for everybody in your squad.

  • A plethora of swimming and wet options. You've got your pick of lap pools, kiddie pools, splash pads, saunas and steam rooms.

Enormous footprint: an average of 58,000

  • Basketball and Tennis courts. Don't forget childcare when you've got  a game or match to get to.

  • Pickleball! It's just around 70 gyms across the nation that offer up the popular, growing sport. Cal Fit has 5 of these courts.

What we wish California Family Fitness would improve

While California Family Fitness checks off nearly all the boxes for most folks, there are still a few things we'd like to see.

  • They had a larger club network, with gyms spread out throughout California.

  • Their prices were more competitive aka lower! Look, we understand that the amount of amenities and services they offer are head and shoulders above other gym chains—but nothing wrong with wanting to save a few bucks, right?

  • Olympic lifting platforms were available at California Family Fitness. We don't see it listed at any of their gym web pages, but we do see it in some of their photos.

How much is California Family Fitness?

The "old" California Family Fitness gym chain merged with In-Shape, so we'll have to update pricing for this new super-mega gym. More to come!

Who does California Family Fitness cater to?
