Can't wait to sweat it out? Like others, you've discovered the immense benefits of a sauna. You love the hot hot heat, and the way it draw toxins and impurities from your skin. We are on the same vibe my friend: that fresh out of the sauna' feeling is purely addictive!
Here at gymscompared.com, people are always asking us if a certain gym has a sauna. And we can clearly see why it makes sense: Folks are either warming up muscles before their workouts, or relaxing sore ones once their session is complete. Bottom line: the sauna is a key amenity to help achieve your fitness goals.
More and more gyms across the country have added a sauna (or two!) for their members—and we've done all the research for you.
So, what about City Sports Club?
You got it. City Sports absolutely does have saunas at the majority of their locations. Water amenities are a big part of the membership offerings with this chain, and they've recognized and understand the total health & wellness benefits of this amazing feature. (Not only do some of their clubs have a sauna, many also have a steam room and pool nearby.)
However, you still won't find a sauna at every gym of theirs. Read on for more info.

Which locations can I find a sauna?

How hot is the sauna at City Sports Club?
We're not quite sure on the exact temperature, but we're looking into it. Do know that there will be variances between each location as well. In our experience, most traditional saunas have their temperatures set between 150 and 175 degrees F.
What kind of sauna does City Sports have?
There are a few different types of saunas, with the most popular being "traditional" or "infrared." No mention of infrared on the City Sports site, so it's quite likely you'll run into a traditional version.
Are there separate saunas for men and women?
Sorry, we don't know that yet. Our best guess is that these are shared spaces aka co-ed, based off the pictures presented on the City Sports site.

What should I wear to the sauna at City Sports?
We're haven't seen a specific dress code for using the sauna at City Sports Club. But, here are some general guidelines:
- You're gonna sweat!—so dress accordingly. The heat will turn up your internal temps and sweat will soon follow. Make sure you're wearing clothes that wick and/or absorb easily.
- Make sure you're comfortable. Most folks we've seen in the sauna are wearing the same athletic sportswear they use on the gym floor. Shorts, leggings, t-shirts and such.
- There are of course several recommended items to not wear: such as jeans, coats and heavy clothing.
Are the saunas free at City Sports Club?ness?
Yep. Entrance to the sauna is included with your membership. Other gym chains tier their pricing so amenities are/are not included—not City Sports.
The membership price you pay will get you into all their amenities.
In conclusion
So, Bay Area sauna fans: City Sports Club is a solid gym option. We love how you can often get several wet amenities (sauna, pool, spa) in one location. We also are fans of traditional saunas because of their general higher temp and humidity.
City Sports has multiple clubs in the Bay, so likely one close by to you. Of course, the majority of them have a sauna. Need the full list? Check below!
