Is Gold's Gym open 24 hours a day?

You're exactly where you need to be! You're seeking a gym that's accessible at any hour, be it the wee hours of the morning or late in the evening.

So, what about Gold's Gym? Are they open 24-hours-a-day?

Absolutely—Gold's gym has a few locations that are open 24/7. We count just 16 of their total 169 locations, which is just a bit less than 10% of their gyms with this amenity.

Which locations are open 24/7?

Not too many unfortunately. Did you know that Gold's own website won't let you search for gyms by amenity? We can do that here, and help you find all 16 of their gyms that are open all night. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see them, but here's an easy summary:

  • 3 gyms in Florida
  • 1 gym in Georgia and New York
  • 6 gyms in Maryland
  • 5 gyms in North Carolina

What else do I need to know? Is it staffed?

Gold's gyms are staffed 24/7. That means you'll have the normal check-in process if you're checking in for a night workout. (Unstaffed gyms open 24/7 operate like hotels—you beep in with a card/key-fob).

While not necessarily good or bad, it should give you peace of mind that there is an employee nearby at all hours of the day. If you feel unsafe, need assistance, or just another person to chat with, someone is present for ya.

Why don't all Gold's locations stay open 24/7?

We don't quite know just yet, but we're on the hunt for the answer. Open all night hours often varies by the individual gym's city/county local laws. It could also be an internal decision by their corporate team.

Other things that go into seeing if 24/7 hours makes sense:

  • Is there enough demand from the members? Obviously it's key here: gyms need enough members to show up at night for it to be worthwhile.
  • What safety requirements are needed to maintain a gym in case something goes wrong?
  • Does Gold's have enough staffing/resources to support all-night-hours?

Finally, Gold's is also a franchise gym group. The desires of the individual owners will play a huge role into expanding (or not) each gym's hours.

Will Gold's eventually open all their clubs up 24/7?

Sometimes we'll get an inside tip or scoop from a reader. In this case, neither—so we unfortunately don't know.

But do we think that 24/7 hours is coming to this chain in the future? Don't bet on it. Remember we mentioned that Gold's is a franchised-based company? That plays a role here since each individual owner must make a decision to spend on labor to accommodate this new amenity. That's doesn't happen too often.

You're likely to see that money (*your annual fee*) go to better equipment or upgraded amenities instead. Demand isn't sky high for 24/7 hours, we think Gold's franchise owners would spend that money elsewhere.

So what times do non-24/7 Gold's gyms open?

At Gold's, the majority of their "non-24" opening hours is pretty standard, and should cover most people's workout times. For their Vancouver, Washington location:

  • Monday: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Thursday: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Friday: 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Even without the all night hours, we'd say this is just ok. We've seen many other gyms have a standard 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM for every day of the week.

Final thoughts on Gold's Gym

Gold's Gym offers up 16 locations with 24/7 hours. It's just a fraction of their total 169 gyms—with those in Florida and Maryland enjoying all night weightlifting or cardio. We also don't think this amenity will magically appear in many more of their locations due to the ownership (franchise) structure.

Outside of their 24/7 hours, many locations open at 5:00 AM, and close by 10:00 PM which gives the majority of members a chance to workout. Not bad.
