  • Free weights and dumb bells with benches
  • Locker rooms with showers—plus shampoo and body-wash

What we love about Blink Fitness

A chain managed by Equinox, we have full faith that their service and amenity set is top notch. We love the upbeat, can-do attitude from the brand.

  • Updated, clean, consistent equipment. It looks like a modern gym with quality services.

  • Good pricing that starts around $17/month for a single location. Access to 92 locations costs $30/month.

  • An excellent website! We get clear and straightforward answers on pricing, amenities, photos and even their cancellation policies.

What we wish Blink Fitness would improve

Pretty sure that Blink Fitness checks off most of the needs for their members, but there are still a few things we'd like to see.

  • No aqua or water amenities, period. Not a single Blink location has a sauna, steam room, hot tub or pool.

  • Just 3 locations have childcare. If you're a busy parent and need an extra set of eyes while you workout, Blink probably won't be the best bet for you.

  • Tanning and massage were options that were offered. Competing gyms in this monthly price range do offer those amenities, by the way.

How much is Blink Fitness?

Blink Fitness is pretty clear in their membership offerings. There are three different levels (technically 4—we'll get to that) that are extremely consistent across the country. Here's what they look like:

  • "Orange" membership ranges from $17 to $22/month
  • "Blue" membership $30/month
  • "Green" membership $41/month

"Orange" memberships are single location access, and come with a 12-month contract. You'll pay a $40 join fee most times.

"Blue" memberships allow you access to ~92 locations nationwide, and come with no contract. It's a $20 join fee. Additionally, you'll be able to use the Blink Fitness workout app, plus get unlimited guest privleges.

"Green" memberships allow access to all 100 locations, which is the only upgrade from "Blue."  A $1 join fee is seen here (on promotion).

  • Annual fees are $59, billed on the second month and then that same date annually. Good to know they also prorate the month for whenever you join, so your first month isn't as expensive. You don't pay your last month dues like other gym chains.
  • Protip: you can save $2 off your monthly membership by switching to a checking account vs credit card billing.

Ok, so remember that 4th membership option? It's called "Gray" and well, more expensive. At it's only available in Manhattan, for these clubs: 54th, Grand Central, Fidi, Chelsea, Murray, East Village, Bryant Park and Noho. It's $45, so a few more dollars than "Green." No other huge perks by moving here, except that it's a no-contract membership.

  • Annual fee is $59, charged on the 3rd day of your 2nd month. Then, it'll be charged the same day every year (your anniversary date).
  • Join fee ranges from $1 (which is their current promo) for their "Green" membership, to $20 for their mid-"Blue" membership, and $40 for their entry-"Orange" membership.
  • Gym prices got you stressed out? Start with a free trial instead.

"Is this gym worth it?"

Use our guides to help inform and educate what a gym can offer your fitness lifestyle. Only you can truly decide if a gym is worth it!

Blink Fitness is a relatively new player in the US fitness market—but brings along years of gym experience from Equinox. Since opening their brand to franchising in 2022, the amount of gyms in the country has pushed to over 100 locations.

This value-based chain is inviting and pushes for inclusiveness, with a banner across their site: "belong to the gym for every body." Sounds like a direct competitor to Planet Fitness, who touts the "No Judgement Zone." That's a good thing: more competition gives you more options. Beginners, first-timers, even those a bit shy to workout in public will appreciate these two chains' open-arms approach to fitness.

We mentioned value-based, and in Blink's case that means straightforward amenity sets. You get all your basics: free weights, bench areas, weight machines, treadmills, stretch areas and locker rooms. These are all the basics you need for a solid workout, and—just like Planet—Blink fits nicely for those who may be beginners or just want a no-frills gym membership.

Gone are options like swimming, saunas and steam. You'll need to find another (typically "mid-tier") gym chain if that's your thing. Same for basketball, pickleball, tanning and more—it's just not in the cards for their members. And to be clear: : many people absolutely love this. Is a gym like Blink worth it? Definitely is, if none of those amenities and services make sense for your fitness journey.

Looking at pricing, we see many locations at $17 to $22/monthly to get in door at a single location. Still a bit more expensive than Planet, who actually has massage and tanning services at many of their gyms. The two differences we did spot between these chains? Blink gives you

  • Amazon Locker Access (5 locations) - convenient pickup of your packages during your workout
  • Towel service (12+ locations) - something gone missing in all of the industry

Know that these differentiators are primarily available in and around New York City, so other Blink locations in Texas, Florida, California and more won't benefit.

So, this is a youthful, welcoming and upstart fitness chain. They don't charge rock-bottom prices, but are competitive with their straightforward offerings and positive attitude. For those in the Bronx, Long Island, Manhattan and more, the 60 Blink locations in the area will give New Yorkers something to think about.
