Ready to turn up the heat? Like others, you've discovered the immense benefits of a sauna. You love the hot hot heat, and the way it draw toxins and impurities from your skin. We are on the same vibe my friend: that fresh out of the sauna' feeling is purely addictive!
Here at gymscompared.com, people are always asking us if a certain gym has a sauna. And we can clearly see why it makes sense: Folks are either warming up muscles before their workouts, or relaxing sore ones once their session is complete. Bottom line: the sauna is a key amenity to help achieve your fitness goals.
More and more gyms across the country have added a sauna (or two!) for their members—and we've done all the research for you.
So what about Equinox?
You're in luck. Equinox does have saunas, but only at select locations. They understand the health and wellness benefits of saunas—we just wish more locations of theirs had one!

Got it. So which Equinox Gyms have a sauna?
As of March 2024, we're tracking 106 of their gyms nationwide. About 16% of them have a sauna: that is exactly 17 different locations. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see which ones.
Ok, this is a little wild. Perched on top of their New York City, Hudson Yard location, is this outdoor sauna with views of the city.
What should I wear to the Equinox sauna?
We're unaware of a specific dress code for using the sauna at Equinox. But, here are some general guidelines we've seen:
- Expect to sweat—so dress accordingly. Yep, the heat will turn up your internal temps and sweat will soon follow. Make sure you're wearing clothes that wick and/or absorb your sweat easily.
- Make sure you're comfortable: most folks we've seen in the sauna are wearing the same athletic sportswear they use on the gym floor. Shorts, leggings, t-shirts and such.
- There are of course several recommended items to not wear: such as jeans, coats and heavy clothing.
How hot is the sauna at Equinox?
We're not quite sure on the exact temperature at this gym chain but we're looking into it. There will be also variances between each location as well. What we've seen from other gym chains:
- Most traditional saunas we've seen have their temperatures set between 150 and 175 degrees F.
- Infrared saunas usually aren't quite as hot, and hover around 120 and 140 degrees F.
Are there separate saunas for men and women?
We're not quite sure, sorry! Check back here or join our mailing list for our latest updates.
What kind of sauna does Equinox have?
There are a few different types of saunas, with the most popular being "traditional" or "infrared." We haven't seen the word "infrared" mentioned on any of Equinox's web pages, so safe to say many of them are traditional.
However, we have seen them refer to some as "dry saunas" which do fit the profile of infrared. We're investigating, and will update!
In conclusion
Luxury fitness at a luxury price. If you're looking for a high-end sauna (and overall gym lifestyle experience) Equinox should be on your list. While their total sauna count isn't gigantic, do consider them if you want your sauna a step up from traditional gym chains.
